Sekiro : Shadows Die Twice is an action & adventure video game developed by FromSoftware and published by Activision. The game was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on March 22, 2019. The game follows a Sengoku period shinobi known as Sekiro as he attempts to take revenge on a samurai who attacked him and kidnapped his lord. The game received universal acclaim from critics.

Amazing graphics and smooth fighting combinations

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is set in a mythical and magical time where monsters and magical fighters are able to summon dark energy to destroy you. Your job is to cut through them and stealthily destroy key enemies in order to get your revenge. You can set up fighting combinations to beat different enemies, and they are not too difficult or complicated. One of the things that separates this game from other sword games, be they older games such as Tenchu, or more advanced games like “Mount & Blade Warband,” is the blocking function. Your shield appears from nowhere, which means it doesn’t hinder you when striking with your sword, and it pretty-much covers the direction you are facing, so you do not have to angle your character to make your block or shield effective. It sounds oversimplified, but is in-fact the perfect balance between a block and the use of a shield.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was built for late 90s gamers who remember old games as being far better than they were. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is so closely based on Tenchu, and has fighting mechanics so similar to “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon” that one may accuse the game of being a long-awaited amalgamated sequel to the games. The storytelling is definitely not Final Fantasy 7, but it has that mythic-Japanese edge without dipping its toe into the magical anime genre.
